Welcome to the world of Bay West Social. Twenty-something Meg McTiernan is all about her career when her house hunt unexpectedly lands her at Bay West - a lesbian mecca tucked away in the suburbs of NYC - and her social life is given a turbo boost. There's a pool, a softball league, even a nightclub practically in her backyard. In this loaded environment, finding the right girl just got a lot more interesting.

Case in point law student Lexi Russo grew up at Bay West and is about to start an internship at the law firm of another local, self-assured, sexy Jesse Ducane. Lexi's had a crush on Jesse forever, but Jesse's the one Bay West woman she can't possibly have. And not just because she's her boss.

Together, new friends Meg and Lexi navigate romances, fun flirtations, juicy gossip, tons of drama, and maybe just the right amount of true love.

Most DEFINITELY lesbian chick-lit and I loved it! I'm probably re-reading it on Saturday for a particular set of Lexi scenes...

At the end of the SOHO loft series I wondered if anyone was going to fill that void. More like a black hole. Looks like Bold Strokes was well ahead of the curb on this one. Well done! And for a debut author Cummings did very well indeed.

Many of the other reviewers summed it up perfectly, just a great read that delivers what you'd expect from chick-lit. A nice set of characters, interesting setting, some romantic conflict with personal conflicts thrown in to shake it up a bit but nothing angsty at all. Things we all go through and what I liked is that both main characters are at believable stages in their professional and romantic lives. One's still in uni (realistic!) and one's done with uni and making her way up the food chain in her company (also realistic!). As I have friends doing the same thing (me included) it made me smile the entire time. Loved that part of the plot. I also loved that we saw them in their work environments. Sooooo important when writing any book to see some of the everyday BETWEEN the 9-5.

Loved Jesse. That's a random aside. When you read Totally you'll totally know what I mean. (sorry. couldn't help it.)

But Meg and Lexi, absolutely adored these ladies. Great characters these two. And great dialogue. The author convinced me of Lexi's adorableness. I wanted to pinch her cheeks and hug her by the end of the book. lol Probably leer a little bit too but I digress. Can't WAIT to see what's in store for Meg! I'm pulling for her all the way and I'm already smiling at the possibilities. I just can't wait for the series to continue. And it must. It's a matter of national security cause I will riot if it just ends here. Scream too. Sex in the City lesbian style for real, someone else mentioned it, but with 2 main leads. You just HAVE to know what happens next for every character. No one can have a loose ending even if in real life we do. Not possible in romantic fiction! So get to work Mrs. Cummings.

But all in all, very cute story. Just what the doctor ordered too in terms of an incredibly entertaining romance. Yes, with multiple characters it can seem like less character growth but it wasn't. And with the insanely low quality of books I've read in the last few weeks across genres, Cummings did juuuust fine. Actually, when you really look at it once you've finished, this book seemed more about friendship than the romantic relationships and I was ok with that mostly because these relationships were so entertaining to watch develop. It just has that vibe, maybe I'm wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time. But don't get me wrong, some heat is there, and it's not random heat either. Slowly built up kinda heat. Worth it kinda heat.

Solid book. Worth it if you ask me.

Totally Worth It Bay West Social (Audible Audio Edition) Maggie Cummings AJ Ferraro Bold Strokes Books Inc Books Reviews

I loved this book and am so happy it's a series. Totally Worth It is so much more than just a solid love story, it gives depth and development to the surrounding friendships. Serious Potential is definitely next on my reading list!
Oh to live in a place like that! It would be pretty cool! The characters were great and it looks like the author is setting the ending up for a sequel. I hope she would consider a prequel to explain how the community came about and the drama that evolved with Lexie's mothers and Jesse's failed friendship.
Great first book... Looks like it's going to be a series. The ladies of bay west are a very interesting group! Hope we get more of Meg's story in the next book. I really liked the characters, Alexis and Jesse want to get more of their story too. Also hope to learn about the two Moms find out their story. So many things to follow up on, glad this will be a series.
I needed a pick me up, and this was a really fun read! I would describe this book as chick-lit for lesbians, it had a Peyton Place vibe. I loved getting lost in the goings on of this group of women - it was like hanging out with your favorite group of friends all of the gossip, some drama, some hook ups, some romance. Definitely not the usual super predictable romance novel. It looks like this is going to be a series, I will definitely look for the next book.
A new author for me that I decided to try after hearing her read from this book at Women's Week in Provincetown 2016. Glad I did! Fun story, entertaining, and happy ending. Didn't give it 5 stars due to a few rough transitions between scenes (i.e. build up of Christmas holiday and next scene is Valentines) and towards the end of the book Meg becomes very foul mouthed briefly and that wasn't her personality at all which was distracting.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were fantastic. The romance and angst are in perfect balance. It may have been ever-so-marginally on the slow side if I'm stretching for a criticism, but also very sweet.
***SPOLIER ALERT****
It is not a 100% self-contained story. One of the two main characters does get her HEA while we are left to find out what happens with our other heroine in the next book. Don't let that put you off. This book is well worth reading and sets up very nicely for what's to come.
I will be starting Book 2 of the series, Serious Potential, immediately.
When I was about 1/4 of the way through the book I was a bit confused. Who was I rooting for to get together in the end? Did I want Lexi to fall for Meg? Did I want Jesse and Lexi to fall in love? I didn't read the synopsis before starting the book, so I just wanted to know the direction of the book. I continued on as the reviews were good. I read a review that compared this series to Brayden's Soho Loft series, so I was all in. I wouldn't go so far as to compare it to that series, but I understand everyone wanting to fill that void. I didn't notice much "romance" going on in this book. I thought the book kind of read like an episode of friends, or perhaps several episodes. So don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book... it just isn't one of those sweet romances. It was like a snapshot of the life of several characters. It was a fantastic idea for a book, and I really enjoyed it. I just wouldn't classify it as a great romance. I love Meg and the character is really well written. I am excited to read about her in the future and hope that this community will continue on for at least a while. On to the next.
